Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below to help answer some of the common questions asked by patients. We hope that by reviewing some of these, you will have a better feeling about our dental office. The doctors and staff at our office are always willing and ready to answer any questions that you may have.
How often should I visit Dr. Spielman's office for a dental exam and professional cleaning?
For most patients, the American Dental Association recommends a dental cleaning twice a year. Regular checkups in combination with good home care will help our patients keep their teeth and gum tissues as healthy as possible.
Are X-rays necessary and how often do I need them taken?
We feel that dental x-rays taken at appropriate intervals are a valuable diagnostic tool. There are many dental problems which may go undetected without the aid of x-rays. We generally recommend a set of decay detecting bitewing x-rays on an annual basis and a full series of diagnostic films on a 3-5 years basis.
At what age do you recommend my child have his/her first dental visit?
We recommend that they have their first dental visit by the age of three. We like the first dental visit to be a fun and informative experience. It is our goal to make your child's first dental visit a positive experience and set the foundation for a lifetime of great dental health.
What are the payment options available for my dental treatment?
We offer individualized payment plans for dental treatment at our office. We also accept many types of dental insurances and we will assist you in processing your dental claims. We also accept cash, check and most major credit cards.
Do you offer bleaching options for whitening teeth?
We do an at home bleaching system. We make custom trays that fit your mouth. You are given specific instructions on the amount of bleach to put in the trays, and how long each day to use our product. Most patients see a nice result after two weeks.
What is gum disease and what are its symptoms?
Gum disease is an infection of the tissue and bone surrounding your the teeth. If not treated right, it will worsen and cause tooth loss. Gum disease often does not cause pain. Indications that you may be suffering from gum disease are red, puffy or bleeding gums. Visit Dr. Spielman and Dr. Schwartz for a thorough examination to determine the health of your teeth and gum tissues.
